How to Wash White Clothes to Make Them Look Brand New

In spring and summer, many people like to wear white, which is particularly high-end, clean and elegant. Although white items are fashionable, they are too easy to get dirty and difficult to wash. If you are not careful, they can be washed out. In fact, it is not difficult to eliminate these stains. White clothes are not resistant to dirt and are prone to yellowing. Do you know the reason behind it?

  • Fluorescent agent weakens

During the production process of clothes, a whitening dye is added: fluorescent agent, which makes the fabric have a good white effect, but after washing too much, this fluorescent agent will be lost, and the clothes will appear yellow and old.

  • Residual oil secreted by the body

The acidic substances secreted by sweat will cause the clothes to oxidize and turn yellow, and the yellowing of the armpits or collars is more serious.

  • The detergent is not rinsed clean

The residual laundry detergent will make the clothes turn yellow over a large area, so it is best to rinse white clothes several times, especially when the clothes are exposed to the sun, the residual rinsing agent and foam will easily turn yellow and old.

There are many ways to wash white clothes with common materials in life, which are very convenient.

1. Plastic bag

Materials: a plastic bag (should be transparent or white), washing powder/laundry soap

First, put clean water in the basin and wash the clothes simply once. Use washing powder or laundry soap on the key parts to wash them more cleanly.

After washing, take another basin of clean water, add washing powder, soak the clothes in the basin, and after soaking completely, apply laundry soap again. Do not wash and put them directly into the plastic bag.

Tie the mouth of the plastic bag tightly, put it in the sun for one or two hours, take it out and clean the clothes, and the white clothes will be as clean as before.

2. Lemon

Materials: 2 lemons + 1 pot of water.

Method 1: Throw 2 lemon slices into the water, boil the water and turn off the fire, soak the clothes in the water for 1 hour, and the clothes will be super white after drying.

Method 2: Squeeze the lemon juice, apply it to the discolored and yellowed areas, brush with a toothbrush for a few minutes, and rinse and dry after ten minutes.

3. Baking soda

Method 1:

Soak the baking soda in warm water until it dissolves, then soak the clothes in the water for 8 hours, then wash with clean water, the clothes will be soft and white.

Method 2:

Pour the baking soda into a bowl, add an appropriate amount of water to make a paste, apply it to the yellowed area, and brush it gently after air drying.

4. White vinegar

Method 1:

If you use a washing machine to wash clothes, then add a little white vinegar before rinsing the clothes, and the washed white clothes will not turn yellow.

Method 2:

If you choose to wash by hand, it is recommended to boil the water and add white vinegar, let the clothes soak completely in water, wash normally after one night, and the stains will be gone.

White socks can also be solved. After soaking the socks, take them out and wash them, and you will find that the socks are the same as new.

How to remove stubborn stains:

Blood stains: Wash with cold water or light salt water immediately after getting blood stains, and then use soap or enzyme-added laundry detergent to remove blood stains.

Soy sauce stains: After soaking the clothes, apply baking soda to the places with soy sauce stains, and wash with clean water after ten minutes.

Lipstick marks: First, use a small brush dipped in gasoline to gently wipe, then wash with warm water and detergent. You can also use sparkling mineral water or soda water for cocktails, pour it on a clean cloth and pat the places with marks.

Sweat stains: First, soak the clothes in 3% salt water for a few minutes, rinse with clean water, and then wash with detergent.

Coffee stains: New stains can be washed immediately with hot water at 70℃-80℃. Old coffee stains can be wiped with 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, then washed with clean water, or with salt or glycerin solution.

Urine stains: New urine stains can be washed with clean water, and dried old urine stains need to be washed with detergent. If there are traces, they can be washed with a mixture of ammonia and acetic acid in a ratio of 1:1 and finally rinsed with clean water.

Mercurochrome stains: Wash with white vinegar first, then rinse with clean water.

Blue ink stains: Newly stained blue ink stains can be removed by scrubbing with soap, washing powder, etc.; blue ink stains that have been there for a long time can be soaked in oxalic acid solution and scrubbed, and then washed with detergent.

Rust stains: Squeeze fresh lemon juice, drip it on the rust stains, rub it with your hands, repeat several times, and then wash with soapy water.

Dye stains: Wipe with dilute acetic acid first, then rinse with hydrogen peroxide, or brush with turpentine, then wipe with gasoline, and finally rinse with clean water.

Note:

Some people like to wash clothes together for a few days. It seems convenient, but it is easy to promote the growth of bacteria, especially in the summer when the temperature is rising. If you put clothes in a relatively humid environment, it is easy to have many black spots, like mold. It is recommended to change them and wash them as soon as possible.

It is recommended to stack and organize clothes by color, and not mix with other colors of clothes. Silk, cotton and linen are not suitable for folding, and can be hung on wooden or foam hangers. There should be enough desiccant in the closet to prevent white clothes from getting moldy and discolored.
